A fan of Pink Tissue!

Ok so among other things, I do a bit of personal styling on the side. I have a client that I take shopping every six months who is the host of a inspirational tv show and she's an ah-mazing young woman. Any who, I'm uber girlie when it comes to my own personal style. I love pink! Yes I sure do and the other day we went to a cute boutique where the lady made the bags all dressed up with pink tissue lots of it and pink tulle well I loved it, my client not so much. At the end of a long day, we accessed our shopping endeavors, she proceeded to pull out the pink tissue and later started to smash it into a ball, and stuffed it into a trash bag...the horror. I didn't say anything just observed and wondered how could she not appreciate the pink pretty stuff, it's absolutely recycable (which is what I do with it) Oh well. I ended up finding a few more pieces the next day. I smoothed it out , folded it nicely placed it in my studio, to which I will reuse for a gift or a craft but in the mean time it will be savored...umph now thats what you do with
Pink Tissue! lol!

Many Many thank you's and a curtsy to you for the wonderful write up about my new blog Mahogany Maddison which I love (batting my eyes). I must return the jester and let you know how your blog has also inspired and motivated me. My desire for the shabby and le'chic has always been in my heart. In 2004 I opened a small shop in the historic distric of Downtown Pomona Ca, where I hosted tea parties and decorated it with antiques and such. Anyway lately, my love affair has drawn me back and seeing your pictures, reading your articles and sharing the same flair for the french has truly blessed my heart. I look forward to seeing more your beautiful blog. Merci Beaucoup! Paris Atelier

One Stylish "Livre"

When I first laid eyes on this book I knew I just had to have it. The cover was so spectacular I just wanted to take it home. Anthropologie is on of my absolute all time favorite stores it fuses shabby chic, flea market and fashion into one coveted boutique. Everytime I walk in, the place speaks to my every senses. I've bought books, jewelry, candles, dresses, E & S initial mugs, signs, lotions, perfumes oh I can go on but I won't but what I will go on about is the book I can never part with, not because of the hefty $40.00 price tag but because it's genius. Tricia Guilds Pattern book is decadent with page after page of patterns, vibrant colors, culture, design, style, vellum, felt and so much more over 200 pages of beautiful design. She's the owner of Designers Guild an online store filled with home frangrances, linens, fabrics, interior designs and more. This website is heavenly and so is my book, I love it and soon I will be buying more Tricia Guild luxuries to add to my collection.

Romanically your's,

A Reliable Wife, a fascinating read!

I'm no critic but, a lover of books and as busy as I am these days I actually started and finished a novel called A reliable wife by Robert Goolrick.
This book is intriquing from begining to end(especially the end) Set in the late 1800's it describes the relationship between a man and a woman who starts off lying to each other and having to co-exist and live within this lye, It's mysterious, sexy and scandolous and I loved every minute of it!
Fyi, from the staff at borders this book is making it's way to the big screen, I suggest grabbing a copy before then.

A little shabby and little chic and a whole lotta chick lit!

I love chick literature, it's fun and whimsical and it's just so frivolous and fufu which reminds me of well "me". I also have a passion for fashion, shabby chic and a penchant for pin-up. I'm a hopeless romantic it stems from my childhood days or reading Julie Garwood and V.C. Andrews books as well as discovering Audrey Hepburn in my mid-twenties and falling in love with Marie Antoinette.

This blog is dedicated to my love of all things shabby chic, romantic, whimsical,, flirty, sassy and inspiring, with a few excerpts of my own book Mahogany Maddison about a 29yr old woman who owns a vintage/shabby chic boutique called Tattered & Torn, she's happy with her life choice but when it comes to romance she's tired of kissing too many frogs and not enough prince's, until she gets a letter from a secret admirer who begins an adventure that will keep you at the edge of your seat.

I'm actually writing two books simultaneously along with writing two blogs, managing two facebook pages, running my cupcake business and opening my Shabby Chic pop-up shop.
I hope you enjoy. Please leave comments, and feel free to follow me if you like what you see.

Sincerely
Ebony

Chapter 1~ A Shabby Stranger

Mahogany Maddison is a hopeless romantic at heart. She's sweet and lovable and just can't seem to find Mr.Right, her Knight in Shining Armor or her Prince Charming. "Urgh!" "Yes I spending my days finding daydreaming about prince's and lands far far away." With the opening of her new boutique "Tattered & Torn"
she has filled her life with all things beautiful, romanitque and pure. Her friends have told her "Mahagony while do you collect so much junk!" She just smiles and says "this junk is filled with purpose and life" Every piece in her boutique is filled with a life that once was and a purpose that still is. At twenty-nine years old she longed to find her prince charming but there's been too many frogs not enough prince's and she just needed to fulfill her inner Jane Austen, Audrey Hepburn and Marie Antoinette.
Yesterday she found a letter stuck inside the front door of "Tattered & Torn" it was an unusual place to put a letter being that the postman just puts it right in my hand, she thought.
She was anxious to read it, it was pretty with floral printed paper. "OOOh, my favorite."
she hugged it to her body, juggling french signs, and a bag or and a bag full of decorative hang tags she purchased from a dealer along with a number of other items, she planned on placing in the store along with her vintage Chanel handbag and briefcase. Everyday she had her hands full of fine pieces dealers have left on her doorstep or she personally has created herself, needing a temporary home in her store.
As she opened the door "it spoke to her heart, it smelled like lavender, cherry blossoms and a time gone by. She would take in a deep breath every time she entered, it felt good and she knew she was in the perfect place.
Sometimes she could hear her friends voice especially Maine Marie Summerville- Maddison, not only her best friend but her older sister by exactly one year.
"Mahogany are you sure this is what you really want to do!" Urgh! "Yes Maine, I'm not like you, I need to be free, be creative and surround myself with things I love. I haven't found the handsome husband willing to give me babies and a soft comfy future."
Putting Maine's voice out of her head she, placed her items on the desk in her back office. Still holding the letter in her hand she salivated waiting to open it.
Sitting down she held it in front of her.
It simply read:
For You
in calligraphy on the outside, no return address. She finally opened it.
Inside it read:
You don't know me but I know you. I've been in your store several times and I think it is amazing. I imagine the store owner is just as charming and delightful as the place she calls 'Tattered & Torn"
I'm hoping one day I will have the pleasure of making your acquaintance Ms. Maddison.
Sincerely
Mr. Williamson
"What!" she exclaimed and placed the letter on her desk of utter chaos.
"OMG!" I need to call Maine, she thought.
She scattered the desk looking for her cell phone, which she forgot the night before.
Upon finding it, it rang and it was Darren, Maine's husband.
She answered "Hello, Darren"
"Hello, Mahogany...I need your help"
